for all y'all who post asking what all the malarkey, hullabaloo & brouhaha is all about all over town, my friend just posted this link to the lapd scanner. she said she just found out why helicopters were circling her hood. so maybe check it out if lights, sirens & happenstances leave you with questions...?

You may not know me - one of the things I do is maintain the California Highways page -- “Anything You Want To Know About A Numbered Highway in California But Were Afraid To Ask”. I’m also a long-time LiveJournaler, and to that end, I recently created a syndication that may be of interest to folks in our
los_angeles community:
lamta_thesource. This is a syndication of the transportation headlines (both mass transit and highway) from the LA Metro folks. What’s particularly interesting is that the syndicated blog is edited by Steve Hymon, who used to do the Bottleneck Blog over at the Los Angeles Times.
Just thought you would like to know...
Tonight is the last GC of 2009. We ARE open tonight. Marissa is making food for dinner, and I'm attempting to have EVERYTHING working, and not forget any necessary component. :-P
Ground Control will be CLOSED on the first Monday of 2010. That would be January 4th. We will resume business on Monday, January 11th. That's right, the first GC of the new year will be 2010.1.11.
See you tonight!

Hello! Happy Holidays.
Is the DWP light festival worth going to? On a scale of 1-10 of fun, where 1 is crap and 10 is spectacular. :)
Thanks!
Here's what's going on in the Space above your head for the new year!

Anyone know any cafes/coffee shops open today.
Preferably in the Hollywood area

This little piggy has a small bulb which emits light out of its snout. It also says "Oink" when the light button is pressed. It gives the impression that I've grown a digit out of my hip as I usually keep my keys in my pocket with the piggy dangling outside.
I was gifted this by somebody who went to NY. Recently, I marveled at the piggys on a keychain display rack somewhere in LA, or neighboring towns/cities. I've been racking my brain to think of where I've been that I saw this little piggy. Does anybody recognize him. I'm in Echo Park, so that may give you a rough radius of where I usually do my spending.

I need to buy a few boxes of these ASAP. Are there any stores in LA where they're sold at a reasonable price? I was in the UK last Christmas and they were about 5 pounds for a box of 12. I did some of my own checking and all I've come up with is Sur La Table selling a box of 12 for 20 bucks.
Other than montrose bowl (i called and they are booked)
are there any bowling places that provide private lanes for a party? i'm looking for something close to pasadena or glendora.
T.I.A.
p.s. 300 in pasadena will be my last resort.
i wanted something like montrose bowl where they have a small number of lanes and basically only one party at a time.

It's that time, once again, for: A VERY GROUND CONTROL CHRISTMAS
You're already loathing that family gathering. Or you're flying solo and sad. Well, either way,
suck it up, and come on out tonight. GC karaoke is the PERFECT mood elevator

There's food and drinks. Karaoke, of course. DARKWEAR will be vending,
in case you suddenly realize you're short a few gifts. And I've prepared
some very special video surprises for that magical time between rounds.... ;-)

Hi there,
Does anyone know of any New Years' events for the 18 and over crowd? My friends and I are mostly 19 and 20 so we can't go to most of the events we've been able to find. Does anyone know of anything we could do? Thanks!
So what is Pasadena like on Jan 2? Does it clear out enough to be able to actually go near it?
Does anyone know where I could find flea markets or swap meets or similar things tomorrow afternoon (Sunday), preferably around the Westchester area?
What sorts of things are at the Rose Bowl flea market? It is worth a trip and the entrance fee?
