I have shoulder length hair and I'm thinking of chopping it all off.
My hair is super thick and I've got too much of it, I liken it to an Egyptian wig :P

Does anyone know of a place where I can get a decent haircut? Someone that knows how to cut thick hair, preferably.

Downtown dog walker recommendations?
by Judes ([info]stochasticgirl)
at July 23rd, 2008 (02:57 pm)

I'm moving to a loft downtown next week with my German Shepherd. Does anyone have recommendations for dog walkers in the area? I just need someone to let her out for a quick bathroom break (10-15 minutes) while I am at work four to five days a week.

Also, I'd love to meet any fellow downtown loft dwellers!

Hi ppl.

Wondering if anyone has recommendations here, I just set up a new company (personal business) and am looking for a good accountant to help me get through all my numbers and tax laws. I am young and just starting out so it is definitely a learning process for me and am looking for someone who is cool with taking the time to explain things.

Thanks for any help!

Hey Everyone!!!

I work for a high-end leather company out of L.A. called Skingraft Designs. We do a lot of amazing stuff including custom/ couture jackets and gowns, accessories, and both mens and womens apparel. Here's a link to the website if you're interested in checkin' it out:

http://www.skingraftdesigns.com/

Anyways, we are participating in a group fashion show/ art show on August 2nd, in downtown L.A. from 7 pm- 1 am. The show itself is a fund raiser for the building of the Burning Man Temple for this year. There will be other local indie designers, Kucoon, and a fantastic performance by members ofLucient Dossier!

Currently we are looking for MODELS, MAKEUP ARTISTS, & HAIR STYLISTS who may be interested in joining the festivities, as it will yield fun times, new friends, and great opportunity!

Unfortunately our budget is small this time around, so we cant pay, but are willing to trade services for portfolio/ book pictures! We have great photographers, so good things are guaranteed!

If anyone is interested, please let me know!

Here's some Skingraft for your viewing pleasure, and a link to the site:

hungry

current mood: hungry

Hey dudes, I recently tried kimchi for the first time and freaking loved it. I want to be able to eat it more often, at home, whenever I want, without having to go out to eat. I tried buying a jar of the store brand at the HK Supermarket on 1st & Western, but I was kind of disappointed with the flavor and texture compared to what I've had at restaurants in K-town.

Any tips or recommendations on good brands/stores/places to get a shit-ton of kimchi to enjoy at home? (Learning to make my own is a lovely idea that, I can tell you right now, ain't gonna happen.)

Several of my bridesmaids' dresses need to be altered before my September wedding. I am looking for a tailor who can handle these alterations. Does anybody have an AWESOME tailor in the Culver City/West LA/Marina Del Rey area they would recommend?

(I know I can go into almost any dry cleaners, and they'll likely have a tailor, but first-hand references are best, IMO.)

I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked.

What the hell happened at Glow on the pier in Santa Monica last weekend? All I know is that I got there late (after 1:00AM), but by the time I made my way over to that crappy area in which the music was being played, the show was already over. (It was scheduled to last until 7:00AM.)

Additionally, were any of the guys who did get a chance to perform good?

This is a kinda random question, but does anyone know how big the smallest theater in Arclight Cinemas is (as in number of seats/people it will hold)? I've tried the website, and I've tried calling, but it's not listed, and no one will answer (respectively).

Thanks for the help!

Does anyone know of any credit unions or banks (that DONT require you to have an account there) in Los Angeles, specifically the SFV that issue personal loans?

TIA

Hi!

Can anyone recommend dog-walking/dog-socializing services anywhere in the Hollywood area? There are tons of them on yelp/CL but I was just wondering if anyone had a personal recommendation. I would like to have someone come in and walk my dog once a day while I am at work. Thanks for any recommendations! Again, I am in the Hollywood area and the person doing the walking would need to be ok with picking the dog up in my apartment in Hollywood.

Train whistle in Koreatown?
by Aaron ([info]xiaomi)
at July 20th, 2008 (11:22 pm)
current song: Rie Fu: Life is Like a Boat

Ever since I've lived in K-town, about a year and a half now, about 2-3 times a week, always after 11pm, there's been a loud train whistle. It's too long, low, and loud for it to be the Blue Line, momentarily ignoring the fact that there's no way in God's green Earth that we could hear it from here anyhow. The trouble is, I can't think of any other railroad near Koreatown. Obviously the Expo line used to be freight but that's been ripped up by now to put in the LRT tracks. The closest thing I can think of is the Harbor Subdivision at Normandie and Slauson, but that's still about 5 miles away from Koreatown, and it's also not supposed to be running freight anymore due to partial abandonment.

Anyone have any idea what or where it is? It's becoming the great mystery of my life.
